Poem: A Refugee’s Thoughts On Birds By – V.N.Giritharan
From tiny to very large.
Slow to fast.
Observations taught me a lot
about birds,
About the space-time where
they fly.
Different birds fly differently;
behave differently.
Some use their knowledge to
glide through the air.
Some large ones use the air currents
to fly upwards.
Bird observation makes me
think philosophically.
It fills my heart with happiness and bliss.
Roosting, nesting and parenting
Makes them so proud
in my thoughts.
Their life is simple; few things to do, but do
regularly.
Through sounds and physical movements
they communicate efficiently.
Without getting tired, without losing hopes
Amidst turbulent environments
where predators wait patiently,
They carry on their existence
happily & optimistically.
In this tension-filled,
stress-filled
concrete jungle,
Our nests are filled up
with materialistic aspirations.
They, birds, taught me a lot on living.
Their ability to fly up and down,
Right and left,
In the sky high,
without worrying about borders
on lands far below,
Makes my thinking broad and
wise.
Seasons only determine their migrations.
With their wings’ strength
They can fly anywhere
they want to go.
One day, If our knowledge permits,
We may fly like them; or
We may even fly faster than them, like
waves, electromagnetic waves.
Until then,
I wish I could fly like them;
I wish , I could spread my wings in the air
like them.
Without worrying of borders, detentions
far below on divided lands
I wish I could fly like them high in the
sky.
POEM: A SQUIRREL AND I BY V.N.GIRITHARAN
A dancing squirrel on the branch
of a maple leaf tree.
Through the squirrel and its joyful dance
The beauty of creation could be felt.
What a moment of realization!
The joyful dance of this squirrel
won’t be an eternal one;
It won’t last forever.
Once it will be gone with its dance,
It will be a history.
On the spot where the squirrel dances,
On the spot where the maple leaf tree
stands tall and wide,
Once where powerful giant reptiles might have
roamed;
Mighty kings might have fought battles
for supremacy.
It might have been a royal pond
Where princesess might have swum
with their swaying hips.
The dance of existence of many
life forms,
visible or invisible,
Might have been performed.
On the spot where the squirrel dances,
On the spot where the maple leaf tree
stands tall and wide,
One day super humans
may rule,
But
Nothing lasts eternally.
What we saw didn’t last long.
What we see doesn’t last long.
What we will see won’t last long.
Temporal bubbles of energy.
When the dancing squirrel finishes its dance,
Another one will continue it
The temporal cycle of life
will continue
eternally
POEM 3: The damsels of the night sky and their giggles. By V.N.Giritharan
Outside,
darkness envelopes the night sky
which extends infinitely.
The space expands.
The stars giggle.
The damsels of the night sky.
“Oh! the Women of darkness!
Can you share your secrets
with me”
“We are fearless rays of light.
We have been travelling through
the lonely spaces and vacuums for thousands
of light years.
We are fearless rays of light.
Who has the courage to stand up against us?
We carry the history of the cosmos.
We never get afraid of this vast , lonely space filled with
Vacuums.”
Look at the night sky!
Listen to the damsels
of the sky.
Now
Do you understand the secrets
behind their giggles?
POEM 4: My Belief on E.T By V.N.Giritharan
Being a prisoner of
space-time,
breaking the prison
is not possible.
If your dimensions
are similar to mine and
If your location is somewhere
in the universe Where I live,
Then
The chances of meeting
you Can’t be ruled out.
Though breaking the
light-year-barrier
is impossible at present.
I firmly believe that
Our meeting is possible.
I am sure one day
Our knowledge will find
ways to reach you.
I have hope.
I have a dream.
I am an optimist.
If I can exist here,
Then
You can exist there
too.
