Citizenship and Immigration Canada welcomes 26 new Canadians to a special citizenship ceremony at The Regional Municipality of York Administrative Centre in the Town of Newmarket. What: 26 new Canadians and their families will come together for a special citizenship ceremony hosted by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and The Regional Municipality of York. Presiding official: Judge Crist Geronikolos. When: Thursday, June 28, 2012 3:00 p.m. Where: The Regional Municipality of York, Administrative Centre, 17250 Yonge Street, Newmarket, ON Special guests: Lois Brown, MP, Newmarket-Aurora, Honourable Charles Sousa – MPP, Provincial Minister of Citizenship and Immigration (TBC) Bill Fisch, York Region Chairman and CEO Frank Scarpitti, Mayor, Town of Markham and Co-Chair of the Community Partnership Council . Media are invited to attend. Photography and audio-visual equipment are permitted. As part of the event, York Region is also celebrating work that has been done on the York Region Local Immigration Partnership initiative (LIP) including the launch of Leading Change for a Stronger Community: Community Partnership Council Collective Action Plan 2012-2015. This three-year plan identifies actions to support the integration of newcomers and enhance welcoming and inclusive communities.
